The Detroit Red Wings 25-year consecutive playoff streak came to an end in the 2016-17 campaign. It was the longest streak in professional sports. Red Wings players probably didn’t know what to do with themselves as the playoffs got underway. The probably went to the rink out of habit. The glory days in Detroit, however, are over for the time being. They will need to rebuild before being once again considered as Stanley Cup threats. Detroit Red Wings Betting Tips

You can't keep a winning franchise down for long, so expect the Red Wings to rebuild fast and efficiently.

Anthony Mantha, who had a strong sophomore season with the Red Wings, is only 22 years old. The right winger will be an influential part of the Red Wings for seasons to come. He played on the team’s top line alongside Zetterberg for much of the 2016-17 campaign and is developing just as the Red Wings expected.

If there is anyone that knows about a sophomore slump, it’s Dylan Larkin. The Wings’ speedy forward, who netted 23 goals in his rookie season, struggled to find his way offensively the following year. Just look at that as a blip on the road for Larkin, who will most definitely turn into a 25-to-30-goal man.

In the 2016-17, Larkin struggled with his plus/minus numbers. He had one of the worst plus/minus records on the team. He'll need to improve his defensive play so the Wings can entrust him in clutch situations. Sometimes we forget that he's only 20 years old. That facet of his game will definitely improve with time.

The Red Wings should be concerned about the current situation on the blue line and in goal. Jimmy Howard, 32, is injury prone. His best days are certainly in the past and the Red Wings will be fully aware of the situation. In addition, their blue line is reeling.

The Wings are in the lower half of the league in both goals against and goals for. They're a .500 team no matter where they play so it won't help to back them on home ice. You'll want to pay attention to their Adjusted Efficiency Margin to gain a holistic perspective about how their overall play compares to other around the league.
