The Rangers remain one of the NHL’s most popular yet championship-starved franchises. Their last Stanley Cup came in 1994, snapping a 54-year drought. With stars like Adam Fox, Artemi Panarin and Igor Shesterkin leading a talented young core, hopes are high that New York can capture its first title since Mark Messier’s iconic leadership delivered the 1994 championship.

After reaching the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals behind MVP-caliber seasons from Shesterkin and Fox, the Rangers appear poised for more deep playoff runs. Chris Drury has reinvigorated the franchise as GM, while coach Gerard Gallant brings credibility. Still seeking an elusive fifth Cup, the Rangers enter the 2023-2024 season with ingredients for a potential special spring.

They almost always seem to earn a playoff spot, so you never know when the Rangers might finally turn it on at the right time.

New York Rangers Next Game

The New York Rangers next game is important to keep track of, as this will help you monitor important divisional games which increase in magnitude as they jockey for positioning. Historically, the Rangers are often among the NHL’s more successful road teams, so that is something to always keep in mind when wagering on their games.

At home, New York’s Madison Square Garden is billed as the most famous arena in sports, and with its rich history as home to NHL and NBA champions, as well as the site of some of the most legendary title bouts in boxing history, it can prove to be an intimidating venue for a young player.

New York Rangers Regular Season Schedule

Regularly following the New York Rangers schedule is essential to maintaining a grasp on the team’s head-to-head play against potential playoff foes. Housed within the Metropolitan Division, the Rangers are often the benefactors of a relatively light divisional travel schedule. Both the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders are within driving distance, while the Philadelphia Flyers aren’t much further beyond those clubs.

New York Rangers Standings

It’s important to keep tabs on the next game, but the New York Rangers standings will show how they are doing in relation to the competition. Hockey people will put forth the argument that the Metropolitan Division is the toughest grouping in the NHL, although there also plenty of supporters for the Central Division in this debate. But when you get right down to it, the Metro certainly holds a distinct advantage at the most important time of the year.

Metropolitan teams won the Stanley Cup in 2017-18 (Washington Capitals) and 2016-17 and 2015-16 (Pittsburgh Penguins). The Rangers won the Presidents’ Trophy in 2014-15 and appeared in the Cup final as recently as 2013-14, while the New Jersey Devils were Cup finalists in 2011-12. Even the Carolina Hurricanes were Stanley Cup champions in 2005-06.

New York Rangers Betting Tips

Goaltender Igor Shesterkin has emerged as the new face of Rangers goaltending, taking over for franchise legend Henrik Lundqvist and capturing the 2021-22 Vezina Trophy. Like past Rangers greats, Shesterkin backstopped New York's run to the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals.

The Rangers remain unafraid to make bold moves in pursuing championships, as evidenced by their 2023 trade deadline acquisitions of Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrick Kane. With stars like Artemi Panarin and Adam Fox leading a young core, New York aims to capture that next Stanley Cup.

After a season of transition under new coach Gerard Gallant in 2021-22, the Rangers returned to contending status. With championship veterans like Panarin, Kris Letang and Jonathan Quick brought in recently, New York is clearly still in "all-in" mode as they try to capitalize on Shesterkin's prime years.

Go Big Or Go Home

One factor that you can be certain of when you bet on the New York Rangers is that you can rest assured that if the Rangers believe that they have chance to win, they will leave no stone unturned or no chance not taken if the opportunity is there to add big-name talent.

The Rangers will always be willing to take whatever means they feel necessary to position themselves for a shot at the Stanley Cup. It's a Rangers tradition to load up and go for it. In the past, hockey legends including Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Guy Lafleur, Jaromir Jagr, Marcel Dionne, Phil Esposito, Bernie Geoffrion, Jacques Plante, and Howie Morenz have donned the Broadway Blueshirt. In fact, four of the top six scorers in NHL history played for the Rangers.

It hasn't always worked - in fact more often than not it was a dismal failure - but knowing you are wagering your hard-earned money on a team willing to pull out all the stops will at the very least offer you peace of mind, if nothing else. It doesn't mean that the Rangers won't spend another year watching a different team hoist the Stanley Cup, but it does mean that they will be in there trying. Because of that, even though they may not be the obvious pick to win, it wouldn't serve you well to count the Rangers out come playoff time.
