Minnesota United are an MLS Soccer team who compete in the competition’s Western Conference. Minnesota began playing in the MLS during the 2017 season, alongside Atlanta United FC, and are the 22nd MLS Club.
Home games are currently played at the TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota although plans are afoot to play in Saint Paul, which will make them the third professional sports team playing there alongside Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Whitecaps.
It was a difficult inaugural season for Minnesota as they finished ninth in the Western Conference. They did win 10 games but lost 18 during the regular season due to a poor defensive line-up. Minnesota conceded 70 goals in 34 regular season games, including 20 in their first five MLS games.
Christian Ramirez was the one shining light for Minnesota in 2017, finishing as the club’s top scorer with 14 goals. Ramirez, however, was sold to Los Angeles FC in time during the 2018 campaign.
2018 was equally as frustrating for Minnesota United fans as they finished 10th in the Western Conference having conceded a competition worst 71 goals. Minnesota ended the 2018 campaign on a run of two wins in 13 games, drawing two and losing nine, including falling to defeat in each of their final four games.
Thirty-one-year-old Colombian Carlos Quintero became Minnesota’s star player in 2018, scoring 11 goals in his debut MLS season, including the team’s first-ever hattrick in a 4-3 home win over Toronto FC.

Betting on Minnesota United
Minnesota United seem to be taking their time to bed into the rough and tumble of the MLS with two disappointing seasons seeing them concede 141 goals during regular season. In 2018 alone, Minnesota averaged 2.09 goals conceded per game and only scored an average of 1.44 goals.
Twenty-four of Minnesota’s 34 regular season games finished with over 2.5 goals with 14 of those finishing with over 3.5 goals.
Backing the over/under goals market when Minnesota are on the road looks a sure-fire way to make money because the team are extremely poor when on their travels.
Do not think about backing a 0-0 draw because only one of Minnesota’s 68 games so far have finished goalless and they have only ever comeback to win from a losing position four times in their history.
