D.C. United, the famous “Black and Red,” have been part of MLS since the start and are one of the most decorated club in league history, although much of their success occurred in the early years. United won the MLS Cup in 1996, 1997, and 1999 (they were runners-up in 1998), and again in 2004. They've also won the Supporters’ Shield on four occasions, including 1997, 1999, 2006, and 2007. In 2015, D.C. United finished fourth in the Eastern Conference in 2016. They lost 4-2 in the first round of the playoffs to Montreal.

D.C. United’s Away Form Needs Addressing
The most decorated club in MLS history needs to address their poor away form. The club only mustered two wins in 17 away fixtures in 2016. That kind of shocking form away from home is hampering the team's chances of obtaining a higher seed going into the playoffs.
Like most good teams, United perform quite well at home. They won nine games at home in 2016, losing and drawing four. If last season is anything to go by, you might want to bet against United in most away fixtures. They will often be heavy favorites at home so it would be wise to include them as part of a bigger parlay.
United are comfortable in attack, scoring 53 goals in 34 matches during the 2016 campaign. Only Orlando, the Red Bulls and New York City FC scored more Eastern Conference goals. And they were pretty handy defensively too. United conceded the third fewest goals in the Eastern Conference, behind only Toronto FC and the Red Bulls.
By the stats, it's difficult to surmise whether to bet on the over or under. It depends on where they play and who they play so dig deeper and find out how matchups could possibly favor D.C. It's always good to take recent form into account, evaluating how United have played in the last five or 10 games.
