Washington: Soaring high in the NL East Divison

Enjoying their longest winning streak of the season, Washington is aiming for a seventh straight win, the Nationals (69-53) have opened a six game lead over Atlanta for first in the NL East. After beginning August with a 2-3 record, the Nationals have been crushing it as they have won nine of their last eleven games. RHP Jordan Zimmermann (8-3 ERA 2.92) gets the start tonight and he has given up just three earned runs and posted 17 K's over 19.2 innings in August which has resulted in three Washington wins. Arizona counters by sending LHP Vidal Nuno (2-8 ERA 4.92) to the hill.

Arizona: Battling Colorado Rockies for the National League West cellar

After opening their season with a long road trip, to freakin' Australia no less, the Diamondbacks 2014 MLB campaign has only gotten longer. Arizona (53-71) is 16 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West and Colorado (49-75) is the only team worse in the National League. After dropping a three of four games in Miami, including a 10-3 drubbing yesterday, Arizona opens a four game set in the District. A rough season in the dessert got rougher when Arizona lost All-Star Paul Goldschmidt to a hand fracture on August 1 and the Snakes have slithered to a 5-9 record without their best hitter.
