NHL Outdoor Stadium Series Sharks vs Kings Prediction

NHL Outdoor Stadium Series Sharks vs Kings Prediction

California Mocking: Check it out USA East Coast

Remember Babu in that Seinfeld episode? “They're totally indifferent. All they do is mock me. All the time, mocking, mocking, mocking”. That appears to ring true here as two California clubs are set to stick it to their frozen East Coast brethren tonight. Thinking playoff chase games should not be played outdoors in a warm climate, the ultra competitive Western Conference playoff race does kick up the heat up a little here. The Kings are just two points behind Calgary (#6) and San Jose (#8) in the postseason battle plus Los Angeles has two games in hand over Calgary and three on San Jose.

February has brought a reversal of fortunes for the Kings and Sharks

On January 31, San Jose was four points up on Los Angeles, with just one extra game played. Thanks in part to their 6-2 record in February; the Kings can jump from the #10 seed all the way into fifth overall in the West if they win their current games in hand. The Sharks meanwhile have posted 3-5-2 record this month and Minnesota is just one point behind them and the Wild have two games in hand. The Sharks are going to need a lot of regulation time wins moving forward. This is a Sharks home game but being outdoors, with a celebrity packed crowd, neutralizes some of the home ice advantage here.

NHL Stadium Series Prediction: Some of the current Kings weren’t even born when LA played their first outdoor game. Exemplifying how long Las Vegas has been courting the NHL, the Kings ripped the Rangers 5-2 at Caesars Palace in preseason action in 1991. LA lost their only other Stadium Series game 3-0 to the “home” Ducks at Dodger Stadium last season. San Jose is playing in their first outdoor game. Sensing head coach Darryl Sutter has pushed the Kings playoff button, we will back the Stanley Cup Champs with a 300 unit wager on the money line odds at the SportsBetting.ag sportsbook.
