New York Rangers futures wager pays dividends
Thanks to a savvy NHL futures bet placed back on March 26, 2015, we are well positioned to set up a guaranteed payday on the Eastern Conference Final. Our original 300 unit wager at Bovada backed New York to capture the East Championship with a +325 money line price and it’s set to return 975 units. While we admit to sweating it out a bit when Washington went up 3-1 in the semifinals, we still believe the Rangers will play in the 2015 Stanley Cup Final.
Suppressing the need for greed is important with futures wagering
While a huge part of futures betting is research and selecting the proper sides, not getting greedy is equally important. We point to our NCAA March Madness futures journey as a prime example. Positioned to earn 1200 units with a Wisconsin win over Duke, by backing Duke with a 700 unit wager on game day, we ended up with a 466.67 unit profit when the Blue Devils took down the Badgers. While we still believed in Wisconsin, prior to the Championship tip-off, had we not backed the Blue Devils, we would have lost our original 200 unit wager.
Eastern Conference “Back Up” Championship Call: It’s worth noting that backing Duke saved us from a negative 866.67 bankroll swing. We are in the same position here as a Lightning series win would cost us our original 300 unit wager plus the 350 we stand to earn if Tampa Bay rubs out the Rangers. Should New York advance to the Stanley Cup Final, our return is 450 units. We are catching Lightning in a bottle by backing the Bolts with 500 unit wager on the NHL Eastern Conference Championship odds posted at Bovada.
