NFL Week 6 Prediction: Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints

NFL Week 6 Prediction: Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints

Atlanta Falcons: Soaring with a 5-0 season start

Not without some struggles, the Atlanta Falcons are 5-0 for the second time in franchise history. Based on their upcoming schedule, that features the Saints, Titans, Buccaneers and 49ers, Atlanta has a solid shot at surpassing the 8-0 start they posted during the 2012 season. A pick-six in OT gave the Falcons a 25-19 home win over Washington last week. Prior to that, Atlanta punished Houston 48-21 following come from behind wins over Dallas, New York and Philadelphia. After recording a dismal 10-22 record over the past two seasons, a huge key in the Falcons turn-around is the versatility of sophomore RB Devonta Freeman. With his 645 total yards and eight TD - Freeman is a rock solid compliment to the firepower QB Matt Ryan and WR Julio Jones bring to the field in the Falcons passing attack.

New Orleans Saints: Get set for a run on brown bags in the Bayou?

It could be a long time in the making but New Orleans may one day recover from the total screw job they received from the NFL following the Bountygate scandal in 2012. That said, the effects are still being felt in the Bayou as the Saints are off to a 1-4 start and they are now 26-27 since King Roger lowered the boom. Loses to the Cardinals, Buccaneers and Panthers to open the season were followed by a stirring 26-20 OT win over Dallas and then a 39-17 pounding in Philadelphia by the Eagles last weekend. While the offense is a work in progress, due largely to the off-season loss of TE Jimmy Graham, the Saints defense is abysmal. New Orleans is last in yards allowed per game (409) third last in rush yards PG allowed (135.8) and tied for second last as they have given up 28.6 points per game.

Falcons vs Saints NFL 2015 Week 6 Prediction: Five of the last six games in this series were decided by ten points or less. The lone exception was the Falcons 30-14 Week 16 win over the Saints last year as Atlanta scored a 86-yard fumble return TD on the final play of the game. Once as dominate as they come at home, QB Drew Brees and the Saints are on a 1-6 recent stumble at the Superdome. While we expect the Falcons will pound the rock on the ground early and often in this contest, nagging injuries to receivers Julio Jones and Leonard Hankerson are slight concerns here. Atlanta is 30th allowing 288 pass yards per game, but first in run defense allowing a meager 78.4 yards per game, so it will be bombs away all night for Brees & Crew. We are backing New Orleans with a 500 unit wager on the alternate spread price posted on the NFL betting board at the Bovada sportsbook.
