NFL Week 3 Picks

NFL Week 3 Picks

An NFC clash, featuring the Washington Redskins hosting the Detroit Lions, opens the National Football League Week 3 Sunday morning schedule. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM ET on September 22, 2013, from FedEx Field in Landover, MD. We’ll back the Motor City Cats!

Detroit Lions: Look to end DC losing skid

Road trips to the Nation’s Capital have historically been a major nightmare for the Detroit Lions. The Cats and Skins have waged this battle many times. Dating back a whopping 74 years, the Lions have lost 21 straight contests in the District of Columbia. Detroit can put points on the board as they beat the Vikings 34-24 to open the season but then dropped a close 25-21 contest to the Cardinals. We like the Cats chances to break the DC losing streak in this NFC action today.

Washington Redskins: Not meeting lofty expectations

After Washington won seven straight games to close out the 2012 NFL season with a 10-6 record and a playoff appearance, the expectations were high down on Fedex Way in Landover. Optimism has turned to pessimism as the Redskins have lost two straight to open the season and they’ve been blown out in both games. The Eagles were up 33-7 during their 33-27 Week 1 win in DC and then the Packers punished Washington 38-20 in Green Bay. Not the Skins expected start!

Redskins vs. Lions Betting Lines & Handicapping Call

Despite Washington's rocky start, and because of the Lions run of futility in the Beltline, we are kind of surprised that the TopBet online sportsbook has Detroit as road favourites in the contest. It’s razor thin but the Cats from Motown are set at -1 ATS and -120 straight up. The Redskins get an EVEN money line price while the game total is posted at 49 points. While we wish the prices were a little better, we will back the Lions to win and cover the -1 spread at the TopBet Sportsbook.
