As they’ve become accustom to doing, the never say die Royals snatched victory from the jaws of defeat again last night. Kansas City can add their World Series Game 1 win to an impressive list of comebacks that includes victories versus Houston and Toronto, where they trailed by four and three runs late, during the ALDS and ALCS respectively. While living on the edge can be dangerous – the Royals have shown they can handle adversity better than most teams. Following their 5-2 home loss to Houston in Game 1 of the ALDS, Kansas City has now won six straight matches in the Show Me State by a 32-16 combined final count. Foundamentaly solid across the board - these guys are good eh?

New York looks to send the Fall Classic back to Queens tied at 1-1

While losing the first game of a Championship series is not a good thing – it’s not the end of the world. This is especially true when the loss comes in an evenly matched and hard fought battle. However, this is the first time that New York has trailed in the playoffs as they defeated Los Angeles (4-2) and Chicago (3-2) in the opener of their previous two series. The Mets committed a throwing error, then allowed a single and an intentional walk before Eric Hosmer hit a long sacrifice fly to plate the winning run late last night. After going down 1-0, following an inside the park homerun on the first pitch of the game, New York let leads of 3-1 and 4-3 slip away but they know they are on par with the Royals.

Royals vs Mets MLB World Series Game Two Call: Due to both bullpens being stretched to the maximum last night, the staring pitchers will play a huge role in this contest tonight. New York sends RHP Jacob deGrom out to face Kansas City RHP Johnny Cueto in the battle on the bump – which favors the Mets. deGrom is a sparkling 3-0 with a stingy 1.80 ERA in three road starts during the playoffs – allowing four runs on 15 hits with 27 strikeouts over 20 innings pitched. Cueto hasn’t been anywhere near as sharp as he’s 1-1 with a 7.88 ERA over three starts as he’s allowed 14 earned runs and 15 hits over just 16 innings of work. deGrom not being a fan of cold weather is a slight concern but Cueto being a gas can recently (5.04 ERA last 12 starts) is more disturbing when it comes to the mound matchup tonight.
