NBA Wednesday Night on The Hardwood: Minnesota Timberwolves Vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Better Without Blake

For a large part of the season the Los Angeles Clippers have been without their superstar – Blake Griffin – but have remained one of the top teams in the league. With how good the Clippers have been playing, coupled with how Blake Griffin recently broke his hand – by punching the team equipment manager – the question now becomes whether the Clippers are better without Griffin. The length of his injury makes him difficult to trade, but something could possibly transpire over the next few weeks as the Clips are 15-3 without him.

Another Coach in Jeopardy

After the firing of David Blatt – of the Cleveland Cavaliers – and Jeff Hornacek - of the Phoenix Suns - 2016 seems to be the year of midseason coach firings. A candidate for the next potential firing would be Minnesota’s head coach Sam Mitchell. Mitchell inherited the team at the start of the season after Minnesota’s former coach passed away. Mitchell’s inability to manage his young players and old school mentality have him at least – very unlikely – to retain his current positon after the season.  If Minnesota who is 5-23 over their last 28 games continue to loss, maybe it will be time to promote Kevin Garnett to the role of player/coach.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Clippers

The Minnesota Timberwolves wrap up a back-to-back against the two Los Angeles teams on Wednesday. This will be the Clippers first game since this shellacked the Bulls by nearly 30 points – without Blake Griffin – in Chicago. The Timberwolves are 0-6 this season on the second game of a back-to-back. Combined this with the fact the Timberwolves have been arguably the worst team in the league the last two months the Wolves win probability is exceedingly low. The Clippers explosive bench and high production from DeAndre Jordan and J.J Reddick make them a huge mismatch and a sizeable favourite. Take the Clippers at -11.5 and look for a high scoring game – with the over of 208.5 being a strong option.
