NY Mets make the most of limited hits vs Kershaw
Following a 3-1 home loss to New York last night, Los Angeles is in an early hole as the Dodgers trail the Mets 1-0 in their National League Division Series. In a fantastic pitchers duel, Jacob deGromm got the better of Clayton Kershaw as those two aces posted a combined 24 strikeouts in Game One. The Dodgers out-hit the Mets by a 7-5 count but a solo homerun by Daniel Murphy in the fourth inning, plus a two-run single by David Wright in the seventh, propelled New York to victory. LA scored their lone run on a single by Adrian Gonzalez as he cashed in an eighth inning double by Howie Kendrick.
Zack Greink battles Noah Syndergaard on the bump in Game Two
We get another solid pitchers duel tonight as Dodgers ace RHP Zack Greinke (19-3 ERA 1.66) faces Mets rookie RHP Noah Syndergaard (9-7 ERA 3.24) in the rumble on the rubber. In two starts versus the Mets, both in July, Greinke allowed two runs, on eight hits over 14 innings, as he went 1-0 with one no decision. Syndergaard was solid in his only outing vs the Dodgers as he allowed one run, on two hits over six innings, but he received a no-decision in the Mets 2-1 win on July 3 in LA. Syndergaard faded slightly down the stretch as he had a 4.79 ERA in August and a 3.48 ERA in September. Jumping on Syndergaard early is key as he recorded a 5.46 ERA during the first inning this season.
Mets vs Dodgers MLB NLDS Decision: Homefield has been a disadvantage as the visitors have posted a 6-2 record during the first eight games of the 2015 MLB postseason. We see Greinke turning that tide tonight as he posted a 10-1 record with a miniscule 1.46 ERA during 17 starts at Dodger Stadium this season. Syndergaard saw his numbers balloon on the road as he was 2-5 with a 4.23 ERA away from Citi Field – compared to his 7-2 record and 2.46 ERA in home starts.
