Washington looks to avoid two straight losses
Playing the fourth contest, during a string of matches versus Western Conference squads, Washington looks to rebound from a 4-3 loss to the Stars in Dallas on Saturday night. Following a scoreless first period, the flood gates opened as the Stars scored four goals in the second frame before the Capitals made the final count appear close with three goals in the third period. In the other two battles vs teams from the West, the Capitals recorded wins over Minnesota (4-3) and Nashville (5-3) during what was a three-game road trip. One has to wonder what they are doing for a puck fix in SoCal as the Kings and Anaheim Ducks have both been out of state for over a week now. During what will be a twelve-day journey, LA plays the fifth of a seven-game road trip tonight. The east coast adventure began with a 9-2 bashing of the Bruins and continued with a 5-2 loss against the Islanders, a 5-4 overtime win versus the Rangers and a 1-0 defeat to the Devils in the Kings last contest on Sunday. Los Angeles is 33-19-3 overall but their lead in the Pacific Division is shrinking as the Ducks have moved to within five points of the top perch.
Kings vs Capitals NHL Call: Jonathan Quick (28-14-2 GAA 2.23) battles Philipp Grubauer (5-4-1 GAA 2.24) in the goaltending duel tonight.
