Kansas City vs Detroit: Royals Look For Revenge Against The Tigers

Kansas City vs Detroit: Royals Look For Revenge Against The Tigers

Blue Jays are challenging the Royals top AL perch

Owners of the best record in the American League for the majority of the 2015 MLB season, Kansas City now has Toronto hot on their heals as the Blue Jays are just a game behind the Royals. Following a torrid 19-9 run during August, things have not gone smoothly in the Show Me State as Kansas City has posted a dreadful 6-11 record in September. Pitching has been a problem for the Royals recently as they have uncharacteristically given up five or more runs in ten of their eleven losses this month.

Detroit Tigers: Promising season as melted away in the Motor City

Forecast by many to win the American League Central Division for a fifth straight season, Detroit has had a miserable year as the Tigers are 68-78 and sit 17.5 games behind the Royals. Playoff eliminated for a while now, the Motor City Kittens are second last overall in the American League. Pitching has doomed Detroit as their pitching staff is sporting a 4.75 team ERA and their 756 runs allowed is the 28th worst total in the Majors. Far too little, too late, the Tigers have won their last three contests.

Royals vs Tigers MLB Prediction: Kansas City has an edge in the pitchers duel here as RHP Edinson Volquez (13-8 ERA 3.59) battles LHP Matt Boyd (1-5 ERA 8.02) in the battle on the bump today. Although Volquez hasn’t been all that sharp recently - Boyd has struggled since joining the Tigers at the trade deadline.
