Dallas Stars: Lone Star State Crew is cruising along
Keep up, if you can, seems to be the mantra in Dallas this season as the Stars lead the league with an impressive 3.50 goals per game average. Super studs Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and John Klingberg have combined for 96 points through their first 24 games and all three players are in the top four in the NHL scoring race. To put that into perspective - the entire 24-man Calgary roster has recorded just 153 total points. Led by Patrick Kane and Jason Spezza, secondary scoring is solid in Dallas as well as the Stars top ten players have posted 184 points which is 31 more than the Flames roster combined.
Calgary Flames: It’s back to the drawing board in Cowtown
Following a magical season, Calgary posted 97 points and faced the Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference semifinals last year, the Flames have stumbled through the first quarter of the 2015-16 NHL campaign. Struggling at both ends of the rink, Calgary owns the worst goals for - goals against differential in NHL at -31. The numbers aren’t even close as the next worst mark is the -20 posted by the Philadelphia Flyers. While the Flames 56 total goals is nothing to write home about, seven teams have lit the lamp less, Calgary’s 3.58 team GAA is on pace to be the worst mark since the Flyers recorded a 3.62 GAA back in the 2006-07 NHL season. The Flames are barely flickering at this point.
Stars vs Flames NHL Prediction: Dallas went 10-3 in November and, after they were thumped 7-4 by Ottawa, the Stars closed the month with extra time wins over Vancouver (3-2) and Minnesota (4-3). Calgary went 5-6-1 last month and return home after dropping three straight on the road in Anaheim, Arizona, and San Jose, by a combined 12-5 final count.
