Golden State Warriors: NBA doormats no more
Largely an afterthought since they joined the crowded California roundball market as the San Francisco Warriors in 1962, Golden State is currently the top team in the NBA. Sprinting out of the starting gate with a 23-4 record, the Warriors are at least three wins ahead of every other team in the league. Led by PG Stephen Curry (23.4 PPG) and SG Klay Thompson (21.6 PPG) Golden State is the third highest scoring squad in the Association as they average 108.1 points per game. In the first of four meetings this season, the Warriors crushed the Clippers 121-104 in Oakland back on November 5, 2014.
Los Angeles Clippers: Playoff contenders in the Western Conference
Following back-to-back titles, the Clippers (19-10) are currently second and sit five games behind the Warriors in the Pacific Division race. Los Angeles is sixth overall in the competitive Western Conference where the top eight teams own a combined 160-70 record - compared to a 137-87 mark posted by the elite eight in the East. Led by PF Blake Griffin (23.1 PPG) and PG Chris Paul (18.1 PPG) the Clippers are right behind the Warriors with a 106.8 PPG average. In what is now a heated in-state rivalry, Los Angeles took out Golden State 4-3 during their high scoring first round NBA playoff battle back in May.
