Due to somewhat streaky start, Boston (10-8) still hasn’t proved they are the AL East contenders online bookmakers thought they would be. The Red Sox are facing the Orioles for the seventh time in ten days and the season series is even at three wins apiece. Boston posted 7-5 victory on Friday before dropping a 5-4 decision in ten innings on Saturday. LHP Wade Miley (1-1 ERA 6.08) gets the call for the Red Sox in this matinee contest.
Although their bats have been fairly productive, the Baltimore pitching staff has had a horrible start to the 2015 MLB season. The Orioles 4.98 team ERA is the worst in the Majors and we don’t see that number improving today. That’s because Orioles RHP Bud Norris (0-2 ERA 17.2) is heading to the hill and he has been a gas can so far this season. Norris has allowed 20 runs and 18 hits over just 10.1 innings pitched during his first three starts.
Orioles vs Red Sox Prediction: Dating back to the Orioles 6-4 playoff loss to Kansas City last October, Norris has now given up 24 runs and 27 hits over just 14.2 inning pitched. Struggles like that don’t disappear overnight and the Boston bats have been fairly hot during the first two games of this series.
