Atlanta vs Tampa Bay NFC South Clash Opens NFL Week 3

Atlanta vs Tampa Bay NFC South Clash Opens NFL Week 3

We get an NFC South Division rivalry game to open Week 3 of the National Football League schedule as Atlanta hosts Tampa in prime time on Thursday Night Football. The Falcons are coming off a road loss in Cincinnati while the Buccaneers are still looking for their first win of the season. Kickoff is slated for 8:25 PM ET on September 18, 2014, from an always rocking Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA.

Falcons look to rebound from Bengals beat down

After opening the season with a thrilling 37-34 overtime win at home against the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta went into Cincinnati and laid an egg as they dropped a 24-10 decision to the Bengals. While the offense sputtered, with just 309 total yards of offense and three QB Matt Ryan interceptions, the Atlanta defense was nowhere to be found as they allowed QB Andy Dalton and the Bengals offense to pile up 472 total yards. The Falcons, and Matt Ryan in particular who is 36-10 at home under the Georgia Dome, are a different animal at home and we see them handling the visiting Bucs here.

Buccaneers journey doesn't get easier after back-to-back home loses

Thought they've been in both their games, Tampa Bay is off to an 0-2 start after a 20-14 loss to Carolina and then a 19-17 defeat to St. Louis - who started third string quarterback Austin Davis. We can give the Bucs a pass on the Panthers loss as Carolina has a solid squad but losing at home to the lowly Rams is a huge red flag. Since QB Josh McCown and the limited Tampa Bay offense will never light anyone up, the Bucs need to come up big on defense. With All Pro tackle Gerald McCoy and middle linebacker Mason Foster out with injuries, that will be a tall order in this contest.

NFL Week 3 Prediction: After losing two straight at home, the Bucs head into hostile territory for this contest and we see an 0-3 NFL 2014 start on the horizon. Following matches against the high-powered Saints and Bengals, the Falcons defense gets a break versus McCown & Crew. This is an NFL Week 3 Best Bet so lay 1000 units on the Falcons money line at the Bovada sportsbook.
