Atlanta Braves: Hanging around in NL East race
Thanks largely to the Nationals and Mets floundering, Atlanta is in a three horse race in the National League East Division fight for first. The Braves (29-30) are just two games out of first as they look to take three of four contests versus the visiting Padres. After dropping the series opener 5-3 in eleven innings on Monday, Atlanta has posted 6-5 and 4-1 victories. RHP Julio Teheran (4-2 ERA 4.87) heads to the hill for Atlanta looking for his first win since May 21.
San Diego Padres: Slowly slipping out of contention in the NL West
Riding a rollercoaster style season, San Diego aims for a series split with the Braves before heading home to face NL West Division leading Los Angeles. Following a 14-15 run during the month of May, the Padres are 5-4 in June and their 30-31 overall record has the Friars 5.5 games behind the Dodgers. RHP Andrew Cashner (2-8 ERA 4.05) gets the call for San Diego and he has given up 12 earned runs on 19 hits over 10.1 innings pitched during his last two starts.
