Will Futures Odds Shift After 2015 NFL Schedule Release Tuesday?

patriots super bowl

One of the most important days of the NFL offseason and one that fans are hugely eager for is the release of the coming season's schedule. We have known each team's opponents since the end of the 2014 season. Now we find out when. Currently the Seahawks are 11/2 favorites at Bovada to win Super Bowl 50 and the scheduled isn't likely to change that, although you could see a few changes. in addition, sportsbooks like 5Dimes will release Week 1 lines almost immediately. The NFL Network and ESPN both will have live coverage of the schedule release at 8 p.m. ET

The most pressing news will be to determine the New England Patriots' opponent for the annual NFL Kickoff game, which will take place at Gillette Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 10. Many believe it could be the Pittsburgh Steelers as the opponent. Pittsburgh won't have star running back Le'Veon Bell for the first three games this season.

The NFL has already announced the matchups and dates of the three games that will be played in London this season. The New York Jets will play the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 4, the Buffalo Bills face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 25 and the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions meet on Nov. 1. All three games at Wembley Stadium will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET.

And of course we know that Detroit and Dallas will host two of the three Thanksgiving games as is the case every year. Since both the Cowboys and Lions are in the NFC, the choices for a CBS game (which are only broadcast from NFC stadiums when an AFC team is visiting — something that happens only twice a year) led to some ugly matchups. But last year’s Bears-Lions game changed that, moving from Fox to CBS and giving fans a somewhat watchable game.

Dallas, which will play on CBS this year, actually could got back to the basics and play an AFC team, as both the New England Patriots and New York Jets are set to travel to Dallas. I would look for New England to be the opponent because that would draw mammoth ratings. The Lions get the Fox game and, likely, an NFC opponent. There have been far too many Packers games in recent years, the Bears are out because they played last year and no one wants to watch the Vikings. So expect a non-division opponent, such as the Arizona Cardinals. As for NBC’s game, it could be any matchup.

Here are each team's opponents.
