Pittsburgh Penguins vs Ottawa Senators: NHL Betting Advice

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Ottawa Senators: NHL Betting Advice

Pittsburgh owns a playoff spot - looking for more

Following a rough start to December, Pittsburgh went 2-6-1 to open the month, the Penguins have picked up the pace as they earned at least one point in 13 of their last 16 games en route to 9-3-4 record prior to the All-Star break. The winning ways have pushed Pittsburgh into the final Wild Card playoff position in the Eastern Conference and to within one point of the New York Islanders for third in the Metropolitan Division. Though still in the lower half of the pack (25th with 121 goals) the Penguins big guns are starting to fire as Pittsburgh scored four or more goals in six of their last eleven games.

Ottawa Senators: Losing and limping prior to the NHL All-Star break

After closing out the first two months of the season with a solid 12-6-5 record, the injury bug bit Ottawa and they have fallen out of a playoff spot in the East. With a 23-12-6 record, the Senators are twelfth overall and three points behind Pittsburgh in the Wild Card race. Ottawa went into the All-Star break with loses to the Devils (6-3) and the Islanders (5-2) a 3-0 win over the Rangers and 3-2 loss to Buffalo. During the first of three meetings this season - the Capital Crew lost 2-0 in Pittsburgh back on October 15, 2015. Prior to that, Ottawa went 2-1-2 during five one-goal games vs Sidney Crosby & Crew.

Pittsburgh vs Ottawa NHL Prediction: Craig Anderson (20-15-4 GAA 2.81) battles Marc-Andre Fleury (19-11-5 GAA 2.28) in the goaltender duel tonight. Fleury has been the Pens MVP to date while Anderson has been up and down all season long for the Sens. As mentioned above, the contests have been close between these teams recently with four of the past six going into extra time. We like the hotter team, who are at home and have the better netminder, in this contest. Back the Penguins with a five-unit wager on the money price posted on the NHL wagering board at the BetOnline sportsbook.
