2021 PGA Championship Betting Preview
The PGA Championship is returning to the Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, South Carolina for the first time since 2012. Back then, Rory McIlroy was the winner and for the most part, oddsmakers are backing him to repeat that performance. McIlroy is the +1100 betting favorite at Bovada and BetUS. MyBookie, however, lists Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, and Jordan Spieth as +1200 co-favorites.
- Bovada and BetUS are listing Rory McIlroy as the +1100 favorite to win the PGA Championship
- MyBookie likes former PGA champions Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth in a group at +1200 to win it all, putting McIlroy at +1800
- McIlroy won the 2012 PGA Championship when it was also played at Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Ocean Course
While it might not often be afforded the same glamorous status as golf's other three majors - the Masters and U.S. and British Open championships - the fact of the matter is that the PGA Championship is perhaps the hardest of the four tournaments to win. Its more wide-open entry regulations generally assure that the PGA Championship garners the deepest field of any golf tournament, almost always counting every one of the world's top 100 players as entrants.
Another factor to keep in mind when analyzing the PGA Championship odds - four of the past seven winners of the tournament are currently ranked among the top seven players in the World Golf Ranking. Last year, Collin Morikawa (No. 6) was the winner, with Dustin Johnson (No. 1) and Paul Casey (No. 20) finishing as runners-up. This is not an event where longshots often pay off.

Favorites To Win The 2021 PGA Championship
McIlroy won here by eight shots during a dominant performance in 2012, so there's that. It was also nine years ago, so there's also that. McIlroy was also favored to win the 2019 Open Championship when it was played at his home course of Royal Portrush. He missed the cut.

This is a course that sets up well for long hitters, another factor to keep in mind when it comes to your PGA Championship picks. That should bode well for Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas. However, DeChambeau has struggled with windy conditions in the past, whereas Thomas has thrived in that weather.
Statistically, Jordan Spieth has proven to be golf's best player in 2021. But he's never won this event, finishing as runner-up in 2015.
Worth A Look At The 2021 PGA Championship
Tony Finau seems to be a name that's near the top of the leaderboard in every major, but never atop the leaderboard. He's finished among the top 10 in eight of the past 12 majors, including tied for fourth in last year's PGA Championship. He has to break through at some point, doesn't he?

Wearing the tag as the best player to never win a major is no prize. Spain's Jon Rahm is right there among the leading contenders in the PGA Championship odds. Will this finally be his time?
Sleepers At The 2021 PGA Championship
If you're not familiar with Jason Kokrak, ask your golfing fanatic friends. He's the PGA Tour's longest hitters and is just outside the top 20 in strokes gained/putting. He won his first PGA Tour event last fall and has added three more top-10 finishes. At +15000 in the PGA Championship Vegas odds, that would make for quite the payday.
Canadian Corey Conners was eighth in the Masters. He's produced seven top-10 finishes this season and is at +7500.
Stay Away From At The 2021 PGA Championship
There figures to be a lot of love in the PGA Championship picks for defending champion, Morikawa. But he's not a long hitter and has only been average on the greens.
Johnson has finished runner-up in the past two PGA Championship events. However, even he's admitted of late this his game hasn't been up to snuff in 2021.
Xander Schauffele has seconds at the Masters and Open Championship and a third at the U.S. Open. But he's never been better than 10th in the PGA Championship.
