NHL Picks Parlay: Maple Leafs Riding Hot Streak
Everything Falling Right For Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs keep finding different ways to win. Sunday, Auston Matthews scored with 30.2 seconds left in regulation for a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. Wednesday, goalie Frederik Andersen stopped a career-high 54 shots to fashion a 6-3 decision over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Leafs are 8-2 in their last 10 games as they play host to the Florida Panthers, who they've beaten in each of their last three meetings in Toronto.
The U.S. Constitution was written in Philadelphia, but when the Montreal Canadiens travel to Philly, their constitution could use a little help. Montreal has lost four in a row in Philly and has dropped 14 of 15 games there. Looking at the standings, you'd expect the high-flying Nashville Predators to dispose of the lowly Red Wings, but that isn't the case. Detroit has won seven straight from the Preds.
We like all of these games in a three-way NHL parlay, based on the odds provided by Bovada.
Montreal Canadiens vs Philadelphia Flyers Preview
Not so long ago, the Flyers were a playoff bubble team, but they've enjoyed a run of success to pull away from the pack, including a current 6-0-2 point streak. Philly is 22-8-3 since Dec. 4. RW Wayne Simmonds is riding a six-game point streak (3-3-6). The Flyers solved the question of who's in goal? With both Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth on the shelf injured, they dealt Monday to acquire Petr Mrazek from Detroit. The Canadiens have lost six in a row on the road and 14 of their last 15 at Philadelphia.Philadelphia Flyers (-1.5), over (5.5) (-170)
Florida Panthers vs Toronto Maple Leafs Preview
The Leafs have won six in a row at home and three in a row at home from the Panthers. Toronto has scored at least three goals in seven consecutive games. The forward line of Mitch Marner, Nazem Kadri and Patrick Marleau has netted seven goals in the past three games. The Panthers were enjoying their road trip with three straight wins until they were throttled 7-2 Sunday at Winnipeg. Florida has won seven of nine games but has been unable to draw any closer than within six points of the final playoff spot.Toronto Maple Leafs (-1.5), under (six) (-200)
Nashville Predators vs Detroit Red Wings Preview
The selling has begun for the Red Wings, moving Mrazek to the Flyers. Defenseman Mike Green is also expected to be dealt, but he's missed the last two games with an upper-body injury. What you don't have to sell is that the Wings have Nashville's number. The Wings have won seven in a row from the Predators, including a 3-1 victory Saturday at Nashville that marked the first time since Dec. 19-21 that the Preds had lost back-to-back games in regulation.Detroit Red Wings (+1.5), under (5.5) (-105)
- Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber (left foot injury) could be done for the season.
- Flyers C Travis Konecny has 11-13-24 totals in 24 games since Dec. 23.
- The Red Wings have lost twice in their last eight games in the final minute of regulation and have twice blown three-goal third-period leads in that span.
- Three of the last four Detroit-Nashville games have gone under.
- Former Nashville captain Mike Fisher to continues to work out with the team in a comeback bid but is not yet in condition to play.
- The Maple Leafs are 5-0 at home in February.
- Roberto Luongo will start in goal for Florida on Tuesday and for the majority of the Panthers' remaining games.
