NFL Week 5 Picks
An AFC West contest between the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders closes out the National Football League Week 5 Sunday schedule. Note the time change as this rivalry game now slated for 11:35 PM ET on October 6, 2013, from O.Co Coliseum in Oakland, CA.
San Diego is a scoring juggernaut early
With a 2-2 record the San Diego Chargers and QB Philip Rivers are one of the higher scoring teams early in the 2013 NFL season. The Bolts have registered wins over Philadelphia and Dallas and have dropped decisions to the Houston and Tennessee – while averaging 27 points per game. Rivers is sporting a 73.9 completion percentage and a 118.8 QB rating – Peyton Manning is the only QB with better numbers. We are always a little weary of Rivers on the road.
Oakland Raiders: Set to protect their home turf
While Oakland has been surpassed as the worst team in the NFL, by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Raiders are still very much a work in progress. After loses to Denver, Washington and Indianapolis, by a combined 82-52 final score, Oakland sits at 1-3 out of the gate. The only victory by the Silver & Black Crew was a 19-9 win over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars at O.Co Coliseum back in Week 2 of the young NFL 2013 season. We see the Raiders gathering some stones here!
Raiders vs. Chargers Betting Odds & Game Day Call
BetOnline supplies the lines for the Oakland vs. San Diego contest. The Chargers are listed as road chalk at -5 ATS and -225 straight up. The Raiders are pups at home at +5 ATS and +185 on the money line and the game total is set at 43.5 points. The OVER is tempting, but we doubt the Raiders will score enough points. Call us crazy but it’s going to be a late night in Black Hole and we feel the Raiders can hang with the Bolts. Give us the +5 points as we back the Raiders at BetOnline!
