NFL Week 2 Summary

The biggest game of Week 2 featured the two NFC Super Bowl favorites San Francisco and Seattle, and the Seahawks made a big-time statement with a 29-3 home victory as 3-point favorites, keeping second-year quarterback Russell Wilson unbeaten at CenturyLink Field.

The top-ranked Seattle defense harassed Colin Kaepernick all night. He was 13 of 28  for 127 yards and three interceptions, matching his 2012 interceptions total. The 49ers finished with five turnovers and no TDs in a game for the just third time since the start of 1979 season. Seattle also crushed San Francisco 42-13 in Week 16 of 2012 at CenturyLink Field.

The biggest upset of Week 2 was San Diego as a 7.5-point dog winning 33-30 in Philadelphia -- the Eagles drew heavy betting action after their impressive Week 1 win in Washington when Chip Kelly's offense looked revolutionary. The Chargers were the more impressive offense in the game by rolling up 539 yards and only punting once. The teams combined for 1,150 total yards in the second-highest scoring game of the week.

The biggest dog to cover in Week 2 was the Jets at +10.5 losing 13-10 at home to New England.  New York's defense forced 11 Patriots punts and held the Pats to only nine first downs, but Jets rookie QB Geno Smith had three fourth-quarter interceptions that killed any potential upset. New York outgained the Patriots by 86 yards and held the ball for eight minutes longer but had four turnovers to the Patriots' zero.

The highest total of Week 2 was 52.5 in the Broncos at Giants game in what could be the final matchup ever of brothers Peyton and Eli Manning. Denver won 41-23 as a 3.5-point favorite. Peyton threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns to improve to 3-0 career against Eli, who threw for 362 yards but also had four interceptions. The Broncos became the fourth team in NFL history to beat the previous two Super Bowl winners in consecutive weeks; they routed Baltimore in Week 1.

Overall, favorites covered nine of the 16 games in Week 2; 10 of the 16 games were decided by a touchdown or less.
