NFL Conference Finals Betting Predictions

Count on Super Bowl 55 is a rematch of the first Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers are the betting choices to win Sunday's NFL conference championship games. In the AFC Championship Game, the Chiefs are 3-point favorites over the visiting Buffalo Bills. In the NFC Championship Game, the Packers are 4-point home picks to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • The matchups for the 2021 NFC conference finals are set
  • The Kansas City Chiefs are 3-point favorites over the visiting Buffalo Bills
  • The Green Bay Packers are the 4-point home chalk against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In the first Super Bowl game, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10. Go with the oddsmakers in Sunday's NFL conference finals and bet that this year's Super Bowl game will turn out to be a rematch of that first Super Bowl.

Both the Packers and Chiefs are favored to win their way to the big game on Feb. 7 at Tampa Bay's Raymond James Stadium. Green Bay is a 4-point choice in the NFC Conference Championship odds at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship Game. The Chiefs, who will be playing host to their third straight AFC Championship Game, are the 3-point choice over the visiting Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game odds.

Curiously, the Chiefs earned their way in Super Bowl 1 by virtue of a 31-7 win over the Bills in what was then the AFL title game. Green Bay (2019) was the loser in last year's NFC Championship Game. Tampa Bay will be playing in its first NFC title game since 2003.

Kansas City is seeking to be the 21st team to return to the Super Bowl in successive seasons, and the ninth team to win back-to-back Super Bowl titles. Both Green Bay (2011) and Tampa Bay (2003) will be looking to end long Super Bowl droughts.

Mahomes' Status Impacts Betting Line

Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the 2018 MVP, and the reigning Super Bowl MVP, left the Chiefs' 22-17 NFL Divisional Round win over the Cleveland Browns midway through the third quarter after he was slammed hard to the ground while running the football. Mahomes entered the NFL's concussion protocol, leaving his status for Sunday's game against Buffalo uncertain. Chad Henne finished the game at QB for KC. The Chiefs are 1-2 straight up the past two seasons when Mahomes doesn't play.

KC originally was a 1-point pick when the betting line opened on this game. However, after the game against Cleveland, Chiefs coach Andy Reid revealed that Mahomes was feeling much better and never mentioned the word concussion. That seemed to alleviate fears among bettors about the Chiefs, and Kansas City's betting line began to grow almost immediately.

Buffalo also is being affected by a key injury. Running back Zack Moss is out for the season due to an ankle injury. He shared time in the backfield with Devin Singletary during the regular season, but Singletary is now left to carry the load all by himself in the playoffs.

The Bills and Chiefs met in Buffalo during Week 6 of the regular season. Mahomes was 21-of-26 for 225 yards through the air with two TDs as Kansas City won 26-17. Buffalo QB Josh Allen suffered through his poorest game of the season, passing for just 122 yards. He did throw TD passes to Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley.

Making an AFC Championship Game prediction comes down to the health of Mahomes. If he's deemed good to go, KC's spread likely grows to 3.5 points and the Chiefs are the play. However, if it's Henne under center, then bet the Bills and take the points.

Packers Flex Muscles

In the NFL Divisional Round, Green Bay scored 32 points against the Los Angeles Rams, winning 32-18. The Rams permitted an NFL-low 18.5 points per game during regular season play. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 296 yards and two touchdowns against LA's top-ranked pass defense.

On defense, the Packers sacked Rams QB Jared Goff four times. During a six-game win streak to conclude the regular season, Green Bay held opponents to an average of 18.5 points a game.

After beating one future Hall of Fame QB on the road when the Buccaneers toppled Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints 30-20, Tom Brady, in search of his seventh Super Bowl title, faces another in Rodgers.

The Bucs whipped the Packers 38-10 in Week 6 at Tampa Bay. Brady threw for two TDs and Ronald Jones II ran for two more. If Tampa Bay defies the NFC Championship Game prediction, the Buccaneers will become the first team in NFL history to play the Super Bowl in their home stadium.

Green Bay has lost three straight and four of its last five NFC Championship Games, including the most recent one, played at Lambeau Field.
