Alex Bowman

Bowman had a good season last year, with a season-high of number 5 and a season-low of 17. Had a few things pivoted in a slightly different direction than he could have found himself in the Championship four last weekend.

Ultimately it didn't go that way for him, but with a career-high of four wins this season it will be interesting to see if Bowman can match or better that next season to shoot himself further up the standings and potentially push for a title.

William Byron

Byron bounced back from a disappointing period to have a career-best season in 2021 with 20 top ten finishes including 11-in-a-row at one point during the season.

With a season-high of 3 and a season-low of 18, Byron is entering his fifth season is a really good outside shout to be able to lift the trophy come to the end of 2022 as champion.

Kyle Busch

Busch had a tough season last year, constantly unhappy with his car and yet it wasn't until he got eliminated officially that he was ruled out of becoming champion by anyone with a brain.

That tells you how good a driver he is and if his team can improve his car to match up with his demands and build on his season-best 2 positions, then Busch should be right among the top drivers for the title in 2022 and will push everyone to their limit.

Joey Logano

A 13-year veteran of the NASCAR game, Logano had a rough season last year and statistically dipped from his average.

Despite that, he still managed to make it to the final 8 and had a season-high position of 2 and a season-low of 11. At 32, Logano is entering the end of his prime, and 2022 could potentially be the twilight of his career to get him that maiden title that he craves so badly.

Ryan Blaney

The 27-year-old is going into the new season coming off easily the best of his career so far. With a season-high position of 2 and a season-low of 15, expect Blaney to be involved in a lot of people's picks for the 2022 Championship 4.

If he makes it there don't be surprised if he ends up with the trophy held above his head at the end of it, because he is certainly good enough to make that leap.

Kevin Harvick

Harvick inexplicably went the entire 2021 season without picking up a victory, so the chances of that happening two seasons in a row are near impossible.

In 2020 he managed to earn himself nine wins, so if he can get back to that type of form in 2022 then you cannot rule out the veteran from claiming a first title since 2014.

Martin Truex Jr

It was a strange season for the No.19 driver in 2021, as he collected three more wins than the previous season (four in total) but yet had a worse average finish and fewer top tens too.

If he can find consistency with his high finishes and earn some victories too, Truex Jr is a genuine threat to Larson's crown and could claim himself a second title having been crowned champion in 2017.

Denny Hamlin

A season-high of 1 and a season-low of 6 explains to you exactly why Hamlin was involved in the Championship 4 last season.

Hamlin secured two race wins in 2021 and it seemed as though it was set to be his year, but he fell just short of the title in the end. That can only happen once though surely, so if he can maintain his level of performance heading into 2022 then it seems likely he'll be able to finally claim himself a title at the 18th time of asking.

Chase Elliott

The 2020 champion made a late charge for the 2021 title but ultimately could only claim a runners-up spot.

At only 25-years-old, it seems as though NASCAR fans are being treated to watching one of the elite drivers in the sport right now and you'd be foolish to rule him out of claiming the title again in 2022.

Hendricks have a brilliant pairing of drivers currently, so if they choose to back Elliott heavily then he will be the favorite without a doubt.

Kyle Larson

The reigning and defending champion is without a doubt the favorite heading into the 2022 campaign after his brilliant 2021 season.

Larson earned double-digit wins and justified all the hype we've heard over the years about the now 29-year-old. With the car he has, the improvements they're likely to make during the off-season and the confidence he will have in the new season, Larson is the clear man to back to make it back-to-back titles.
