LAÂ Dodgers: Cruising into the MLB postseason
After a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants, back at the start of the month, Los Angeles is comfortably perched in first place overall in the NL West. The Dodgers (81-60) have opened a 7.5 game lead on the defending World Series Champions and they would have to have an epic collapse to not win the West. Los Angeles has cranked it up at the right time as the Dodgers riding a 14-4 run and they have won their last five series – they can make it six straight with a win here. After getting shelled 12-4 by the Diamondbacks in the opener of this series, Los Angeles turned the table with a 9-5 victory last night.
Diamondbacks play out the string on a long season in the desert
Better than they were last season, when they posted a dismal 64-98 record, Arizona will still miss the MLB playoffs this year. The Diamondbacks are sitting with a 68-74 record and they trail the Dodgers by 13.5 games in the NL West. The Dbacks had pulled to within a game of .500 with six straight wins to close out July but an 18-23 record since has pushed Arizona well out of postseason contention. Hot bats in the desert, the Diamondbacks 639 runs scored is fourth best in the Majors, hasn’t been backed by pitching as the Arizona staff has a 19th ranked 4.06 team ERA. The Dbacks are 3-6 over their last nine contests.
Diamondbacks vs Dodgers MLB Prediction: LA ace RHP Zack Greinke (16-3 ERA 1.68) faces LHP Patrick Corbin (5-3 ERA 3.32) in the rumble on the rubber here.
