One of the biggest races of the 2024 MotoGP season is upon us once again as we head to the Circuit of the Americas for the third race of the season.

Last year it was Francesco Bagnaia who claimed the win ahead of Alex Rins, with the most winning driver of all time Marc Marquez not in the race. But the 2022 winner Eric Bastianini wasn't in the race either, and they both return to the field this year looking to get back to winning ways.

We'll take a look at the contenders to be victorious and see if we can provide you with our best free MotoGP picks to try and earn you some extra cash for the weekend.

MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas 2024 favorites

Below you'll find a list of favorites to win the MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas 2024.

Jorge Martin - Prima Pramac Racing - (+162)

After a brilliant win in Portugal last time out, and a fantastic performance in Qatar in the opening race of the season that saw him finish in third place, Jorge Martin is the man who currently leads the championship standings.

Last year, he was unable to finish the race at the American Grand Prix but would go on to finish in second place in the MotoGP World Championship standings, behind eventual winner Francesco Bagnaia.

Martin won four different races in the 2023 season, including four top-ten finishes in the final five races of the season to really push himself up the standings. He also has been the most consistent finisher to date with a third-place and first-place finish in the first two races of the season, cementing himself as the favorite for this race this weekend.

If Martin is able to maintain his pace in Texas then he has every chance of coming away with a victory at this track for the first time in his career, but the competition will be fierce and considering the odds for his success this seems like a bet to avoid.

Francesco Bagnaia - Ducati Lenovo Team - (+180)

Without a doubt the best motorcycle racer in the world right now, Bagnaia is the reigning 2022 and 2023 MotoGP World Riders' Champion and has started the season in fantastic form.

The Italian won the opening race of the season in Qatar with a stellar performance, and was going well in Portugal before he crashed out of the race. Now though he will be keen to get back to winning ways in Texas, where he'll be hoping to become only the second non-Spaniard to win at this track in MotoGP history.

In the past, he has had some up-and-down performances at this Grand Prix – retiring last year, before posting a fifth place (2022) and a third-place showing in 2021.

Since 2022 Bagnaia has won a total of 14 races combined en route to his two world titles and opening race this season, including winning a remarkable four races in a row back in 2022. If anyone is going to win this race for the first time, Bagnaia is the man to back.

Marc Marquez - Gresini Racing MotoGP - (+400)

Marquez is one of the most accomplished racers of all time with 59 total MotoGP World Championship victories and six different world championships, but none since the 2019 season.

So far in the 2024 campaign he finished fourth in the opening race in Qatar before a relatively poor showing in Portugal saw him finish in 16th-place. But he is among the favorites to be successful in Texas because there is no rider who has won here more often.

The Spaniard has won this race seven times in his career, including a sensational run of six-in-a-row between 2013 and 2018. But his recent performances haven't been the greatest and this season hasn't started the best for him so a win doesn't look the most likely. However, it's impossible to rule him out considering his record on this track and +400 is tremendous value.

Enea Bastianini - Ducati Lenovo Team - (+600)

Bastianini won the Grand Prix of the Americas back in 2022, and to this day remains the only man not named Alex Rins or Marc Marquez to find success on this track.

The winner of the pole position and fastest lap at the Portuguese Grand Prix, the Italian driver notched some fantastic performances last week and is coming into this race in pretty decent form, having finished that race in second position.

Bastianini is a great racer for the Ducati team and has been solidly consistent this year, preceding that runner-up spot in Portugal with a fifth-placed finish in Qatar in the season's opening race. He is also off to a much better start than last year, which was hampered due to various ailments including injuries and crashes.

Repeating his 2022 victory seems like a long-shot considering the competition on the grid in 2024, but he has experience of success here which isn't something many other people can call upon and he has a world champion as his teammate with a fantastic bike. Don't overlook him too much.
