After giving their fans some playoff hope, following an eight-game winning streak at the end of July, a sluggish August has pushed Chicago back out of contention. The hope was real as the White Sox were just 2.5 games out an American League Wild Card spot on July 29. Thanks to an 8-11 August record, Chicago is now five games back and they trail six teams in the MLB AL postseason chase.
Following a 87-75 record in 2014, where the Mariners missed the MLB playoffs by just one game, bigger things were expected in Seattle this season. That hasn’t materialized though as the Mariners are sporting a 56-66 record and they are 10.5 games behind Houston in the American League West. A Wild Card berth also appears to be a pipe dream as the Mariners are seven games out of that race.
White Sox vs Mariners MLB Prediction: A less than stellar pitchers duel is on tap here as LHP Carlos Rodon (5-5 ERA 4.42) faces Vidal Nuno (0-2 ERA 3.14) in the battle on the bump tonight.
