Chicago vs New York: Big City Clash Completes NFL Week 3

There will be a lot of eyeballs on the National Football League tonight as teams from the first and third largest cities in the United States clash during Monday Night Football. A pair of 1-1 squads are set to battle as New York hosts Chicago to close out the NFL Week 3 action. The Bears and Jets hit the gridiron at 8:30 PM ET on September 22, 2014, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Chicago Bears: Riding high after stealing one in SF

Though beat up and battered, the Bears somehow mustered an improbable 28-20 come from behind win over the 49ers last weekend. The victory came after an equally surprising 23-20 NFL Week 1 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills during the Bears home opener at Soldier Field. Chicago trailed 17-0 late in the first half and San Francisco appeared to be well on their way to a successful opening of their brand new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. That was before QB Jay Cutler and WR Brandon Marshall started to click. That combo registered the Bears first points on a TD pass with 13 seconds left in the first half. Then, down 20-7 to open the fourth quarter, that dynamic dual connected on two more TD passes to complete the comeback. The Jets suspect pass defence will be tested early and often.

New York Jets: Look to rebound after letting one slip away in Green Bay

While Chicago celebrated their comeback win - New York was lamenting the one that got away in Green Bay. Following a 19-14 Week 1 home win over the hapless Oakland Raiders, the Jets looked like they would move to 2-0 after opening a 21-3 second quarter lead on the Packers. That was before QB Aaron Rodgers and WR Jordy Nelson took over as the home side Packers outscored the Jets 27-3 the rest of the way. Rodgers finished with 346 passing yards and three TD while Nelson caught nine passes for 209 yards and one TD against a New York secondary that looks like Swiss cheese. Gang Green will look to control the clock with Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson who have combined for 234 rushing yards in two games. The Bears sieve-like run D needs to bring some resistance here.

NFL Week 3 Prediction: If the Jets can control the clock, with their top ranked rushing attack slicing through the Bears 31st ranked run defense, New York wins at home. If Cutler & Crew go all Rodgers & Nelson on the Jets leaky secondary, they'll return to the Windy City with a 2-1 record. The BABB handicapping Crew is split on the outcome of this contest. Expecting Chicago can muster some stones on defence, we'll take the points and back the Bears with a 230 unit spread wager at BetOnline.

Major League Baseball Bonus Bet: We would be remiss if we didn't touch on the MLB Best Bet today. Back Adam Wainright as he will join LA Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw as a 20 game winner when the Cardinals take down the Cubs. Wager 670 units on St. Louis (-183 ML) over Chicago in this contest that goes at 8:05 PM ET from the friendly confines of Wrigley Field in the Windy City.
