Chicago Blackhawks: The Champs are on a roll
Moving past some early season struggles, Chicago was 13-9-4 on December 3, the defending Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks are one of the hottest squads in hockey right now. Including their current five game winning streak, where they outscored their opponents by a 20-11 margin, Chicago is 12-4-0 during their past 16 games. The Hawks are playing well at both ends of the rink as their 2.76 goals scored per game and their 2.38 goals allowed per game are both the eighth best marks in the NHL.
Buffalo Sabres: Consistently scoring goals is still a problem in New York
At the opposite end of the spectrum to the Champs, Buffalo rolls into the Windy City having lost five straight by a combined 20-7 final count. Buffalo did creep close to the .500 mark, after a 5-2 home win over Arizona on December 4 pushed their record to 11-12-3, but the Sabres have stumbled to a 4-9-1 record since then. The Sabers 92 goals for (2.28 GPG) is third lowest in the NHL while their 107 goals allowed (2.68 GPG) is 18th overall. Buffalo was bashed 5-1 at home by the Panthers on Tuesday.
