San Jose Sharks And Carolina Hurricanes Clash in California

San Jose Sharks And Carolina Hurricanes Clash in California

San Jose Sharks: Look to get back to winning ways

Storming out of the NHL starting gate, San Jose outscored their opponents by a 14-2 margin, the Sharks opened their season with four straight wins. A long road trip caught up to San Jose however as they lost two games in New York to the Rangers and Islanders before they returned home and dropped a 4-1 decision to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday. Five of San Jose’s first seven contests were played on the road. Goaltending, which had been rock solid during their winning streak, has fallen apart some as the Sharks have been outscored by a 14-4 margin during their three-game losing streak.

Carolina Hurricanes: ‘Canes are just as road weary as the Sharks

Following six years of missing the NHL playoff party, it appears as though another long season is on the horizon in Carolina. The Hurricanes are off to a 2-5-0 start and they’ve been outscored by a 20-12 margin. The scheduler makers haven’t done the ‘Canes any favors as Carolina is playing a fifth straight road game and they still have to make stops in Detroit and New York on Tuesday and Thursday next week. As has been the case for years now, scoring continues to be a major issue in Carolina as the Hurricanes 12 total goals is the third worst mark in the league. The 'Canes are in tough here.

San Jose vs Carolina NHL Prediction: Sharks G Martin Jones (4-2 GAA 1.64) faces Hurricanes backup G Eddie Lack (0-1 GAA 3.10) in the goaltending duel tonight. Jones allowed two goals while winning his first four starts but he has given up four goals in two straight losses. Lack, who gave up three goals during a 4-1 loss to Detroit in his only other start, gives Cam Ward breather for the second time this season. Being as the first contest at home after a long road trip can be dicey for sports teams - we expect San Jose to be better in their second game back at the Shark Tank tonight. Gives us San Jose with a 500 unit wager on the money line price posted on the TopBet NHL betting board.
