Strong out of the gate with four wins to open their season, Cincinnati has stumbled some since as their record has leveled out at 12-12. The Reds are 5.5 games behind the red hot St. Louis Cardinals (17-6) in the NL Central. RHP Johnny Cueto (2-2 ERA 1.95) has been a shining light for the Reds as he has won two straight and he’s given up just eight earned runs over 37 innings pitched. Equally impressive, Cueto has 38 strikeouts to go along with just five walks allowed over his first five starts.
Even more impressive than the Reds season start, Atlanta busted out the gate with a 6-1 record. Since then though, it’s been mostly downhill as the Braves are just 4-11 over their last 15 games. Following two strong starts to open the season (two runs over 12 innings), RHP Julio Teheran (2-1 ERA 4.67) heads to the hill looking to right the ship has he has given up 16 runs (12 earned) over his last 15 innings. This is a rubber-match contest as Atlanta won 4-3 on Friday but were crushed 8-4 yesterday.
