Super Bowl 50 Futures Betting Update: Denver vs Carolina

Super Bowl 50 Futures Betting Update: Denver vs Carolina

Futures Review: NFC as Super Bowl 50 Champions

On January 6, 2016, prior to NFL Wild Card action, we placed a futures wager by laying 2.5 points to back the National Football Conference as Super Bowl 50 Champions. Although the risk/reward factor was sort of high, this wager was made knowing that we would have a chance to lower the risk while raising the reward once the Super Bowl representatives were determined. As it stands right now, we pocket $833.33 if Carolina covers the -2.5 points but we lose $1000 if Denver covers or wins outright. While we are fairly confident that the Panthers will bust up the Broncos, we need to get rid of some of the risk involved in this wager and we can do it while boosting the possible return at the same time.

Denver spread price reduces the risk - possibly pumps up our reward

Since Bovada bookmakers are offering a rather surprising and generous +6 (-110) spread price; we have some wiggle room to reduce our original risk and jack up our reward. By backing the Broncos with a $770 wager on their spread price we have four possible results. The first result is Denver covering the -2.5 points or winning outright which would result in a loss but our original risk drops from $1000 down to $300. If Carolina wins by seven or more we pocket a small $63.33 profit. A Carolina win by three to five points earns us a $1,533.33 double-dip return while a six-point win by the Cats yields our original $833.33 return. Our "double-dip" is bolstered by the fact that 12 of the 49 NFL title games have been decided by three to five points - including three of the last four. Enjoy Super Bowl 50 and Good Luck!
