PGA Championship 2024 favorites

Below you'll find a list of the favorites to win the 2024 PGA Championship golf tournament.

Scottie Scheffler - (+475)

Scottie Scheffler is once again the outright betting favorite this week as his fantastic form over the last 12 months continues.

The two-time major championship winner has won in four of his last five starts on the PGA Tour, including when he won The Masters again in the first major of the year, defeating Ludvig Åberg by four shots for a green jacket.

In fact the only time he didn't win in this run of tournaments was at the Texas Children's Houston Open, where he finished in second by just one shot after missing a six-foot putt that would have taken him into a playoff with eventual winner Stephan Jaeger.

Scheffler hasn't played since his win at the RBC Heritage but he statistically remains head and shoulders above the rest of the PGA Tour as he ranks number one in Strokes Gained (SG): Total (2.851), SG: Tee to Green (2.835), SG: Approach the Green (1.398), Birdie or Better Percentage (30.91%) and Scoring Average (67.46) among other statistics.

He has finished in the top 10 in three of his four PGA Championships, including his tie for second at Oak Hill Country Club last year. There is great value in backing him, although his absence from recent the tour may mean there is more value elsewhere.

Rory McIlroy - (+800)

Rory McIlroy won the 2014 PGA Championship the last time the tournament was in Louisville, and he's coming off the back of a huge win at Wells Fargo last week.

McIlroy enters in strong form as well after winning in his two most recent starts at the Wells Fargo Championship by five shots and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Shane Lowry in the PGA Tour's two-man team event.

Half of McIlroy's four major championship victories have come at the PGA Championship with his win here in 2014 along with a win at Kiawah Island in 2012. The Northern Irish star has finished in the top 10 in each of the last two PGA Championships and in eight of his 15 total appearances at this event, with 25 PGA tour wins in his career.

But while his majors drought has continued in recent times, he's arguably coming into this competition with his best chance once again and at +800 there is top value in backing him for success.

Xander Schauffele - (+1500)

The man whom McIlroy battled in the final round at Quail Hollow, Xander Schauffele, sits at +1500 to win his first major, and comes into the tournament in some decent form.

While Schauffele hasn't won since the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open, he has undoubtedly been an elite player on the PGA Tour this season. His consistency has been remarkable and it would have been a real shock if he had not clinched his eighth top-10 finish in 12 starts this season at the Wells Fargo Championship.

The San Diego State Aztec also leads the PGA Tour in consecutive made cuts with 45 as he has very few weaknesses in his game and only has one finish outside the top 25 this season (a T54 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am).

Last year at the PGA Championship he finished a tied 18th, making it top-20 finishes in four of the last five PGA Championships, with his best result being a tie for 10th at the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California.

But there is a fantastic chance for him to step up to the plate and claim his first major title with the way he is playing, and with a course that suits his style there is unbelievable value in him here.

Jon Rahm - (+2000)

Last year's Masters winner, Jon Rahm, is priced at +2000 to win the Wanamaker Trophy for a the first time in his careers he looks to claim a third major tournament win.

The Spaniard's tie for 45th at the Masters in 2024 was underwhelming, but he has played regularly on LIV Golf this season with top-10 finishes in all seven starts, including a T3 and a T10 since he teed it up at Augusta back in April.

LIV players have struggled massively since the split, however Rahm has three top-15 finishes in his seven PGA Championship appearances, with his best result being a T4 in 2018.

He is in good form coming into this and if anyone from LIV can claim the victory, it's Rahm.
