What is a prop bet?

A prop bet is a bet that allows you to bet on individual or team performance. It is one of the most popular types of bets among gamblers, with its alignment to fantasy football which fans love.

You can bet on either player, team or game and it can be based on a single game or over an entire season.

Team props are to do with the team's performance in a game, while game props refer to specific situations in-game. A player prop is betting on a specific individual player's performance in a game or across a season.

So now that that's clear, let's get on to our picks for the 56th annual Super Bowl event.

Bengals Over 21.5 Points (-110)

Offensively, the Bengals are bound to have a bunch of success in this game and that means points galore.

When it came to their championship game against Kansas City Chiefs it took them a half to really get going and yet they still managed to come away with a victory having scored 27 points (24 in regulation time).

If they can get that going earlier then they're sure to hit this total and with the amount of talent they have in their ranks I expect them to get there over the course of the game regardless of whether they win or lose.

Bengals first to score (+110)

This one is a bit of a coin flip, but you're essentially betting on the team that wins the toss because the team with the ball is obviously the most likely to score first in the game.

If the Bengals get possession first it will be fun to see their offense get to work early on and see how they can affect the game with everyone fresh and focused.

The home fans will be at their loudest, so what better way to quieten them down and settle the nerves than by getting on the board first?

At positive odds, it's hard to ignore that kind of value for a nice little wager.

Over 23.5 first-half points (-110)

This is likely to be one of the most offensive-minded Super Bowls in recent memory, with neither of these teams among the sides that people expected to be here at the start of the season.

Because of that, they will both want to take the game to their opponent which means plenty of points will be scored.

Both of these teams are absolutely stacked with offensive talent so a more touchdown-oriented game is likely. We'll likely see points early on, and that means the game opens up earlier for even more points to be scored in the first half.

If you wanted an entertaining Super Bowl, you'll be in luck on Sunday.

Odell Beckham Jr Over 64.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

OBJ's arrival to this team was a real turning point after he got released by the Cleveland Browns, so it's no surprise he had a huge game in the NFC Championship to help the Rams get to this point.

In that game, he brought in nine of 11 targets for 113 yards against the 49ers and he has now combined for 236 receiving yards in three games during the post-season.

During the playoffs, Beckham Jr has posted a 24% target share which sits him in fifth among pass-catchers with at least two games played. He's the main man for the Rams and 64.5 yards is incredibly generous for him in a game where he will be looking to shine once more.

The Bengals' defense has played well this season but they still give up yards to the opposition and there is nobody better than OBJ to expose that. Considering Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce managed to combine for 173 yards in the AFC Championship game, just imagine what a fit and firing OBJ can do on the biggest stage of them all.
