MLB 2022 Betting Favourites

LA Dodgers (+500)

For the fourth season in a row, it's the LA Dodgers that are the bookies' favorites for the title early doors. The 2020 champions were beaten by this season's winners the Atlanta Braves in the playoffs, but that hasn't put the bookies off making them the shortest price of all 30 teams.

Houston Astros (+800)

This season's beaten finalists, the Astros have proven to themselves and the rest of the world that they are still in and around the best teams in baseball. There was plenty of controversy heading into last season, but it should be clear for them this year which means they could have the capacity to go one step further this time around.

Atlanta Braves (+1000)

The reigning champions of 2021, the Braves are the third favorites to retain their title. They weren't the favorites to win the title until they won game one of the finals, but with a solid core of young talent and Ronald Acuna set to return there's nothing to suggest that they couldn't do it again next year.

New York Yankees (+1000)

As expected, the biggest franchise in the sport is among the top five favorites to claim yet another World Series title this year. They struggled to put it all together last season, falling to the Red Sox in the Wildcard game, but they will be hopeful of seeing a big improvement come 2022.

Chicago White Sox (+1200)

This team were expected to compete for the World Series last season in their first campaign under Tony La Russa, but they fell way short of expectations. The pressure has risen now and expectations have grown with such a talented young core, so they are among the top five favourites once again.

Why are the Dodgers favorites?

To put it simply, they have the best team and the recent history tells you they're capable of going all the way.

They were the champions in 2020 and still managed to win 106 games during the 2021 season, getting pipped by eventual champions Atlanta Braves in the NLCS.

While all of Corey Seager, Max Scherzer, Clayton Kershaw, Chris Taylor and Kenley Jensen will hit free agency from Monday, plus Trevor Bauer's future is still up in the air, they have more than enough talent to put forward a real challenge for the crown once again.

The likelihood is that the Dodgers will be able to retain at least two of those on new deals, plus be involved in the chase for other top players entering free agency.

Best longshot bets?

Seattle Mariners (+4000)

The Mariners are in the middle of a transitional period with their roster and are keen to become a playoff side once again. They are likely to get both Kyle Seager and Yusei Kikuchi's contracts off their books, but they have a young core capable of producing magic, so at 40-1 you can't rule them out.

They were able to secure 90 wins this season and with one of the most unpredictable general managers in the game, they could go in a number of directions that help them to a shock victory.

Detroit Tigers (+5000)

Another team that is in their transitional period, the Tigers were ahead of their plan at times during the last season and have the capabilities to continue their progress in 2022.

They'll likely need to spend some cash in order to do so, but they earned their best total win season this year and have a talented young core to build on so who knows?

Los Angeles Angels (+5000)

The Angels have both Mike Trout and 'Shotime' Shohei Ohtani in their roster for the season. Two of the absolute best prospects in all of baseball and 50-1, it's always worth a punt that they finally come good and carry this franchise to a first title since 2002.
