Nationals Look For Series Split With The Brewers

MLB World Series chalk continues to crash
What’s wrong with Washington – on the baseball diamond not in the political arena. Installed as 2015 MLB World Series top chalk back in the preseason the Nationals are 32-30 and fortunate that they play in the mediocre NL East. That’s because their closet competition, the Mets (33-30) and Braves (30-32), are both struggling as well. Pitching is a big issue in the District as the Washington rotation is 19th with a 3.98 team ERA and 20th with 270 runs allowed. That said - In Max we trust today.
Somewhat baffling Brew Crew has been “surging” recently
Although it’s going to be too little – too late, Milwaukee (24-39) has been improving with each passing month. Following a disastrous 5-17 April, the Brew Crew improved to 12-17 in May and they are 7-5 so far in June. Milwaukee won the first two games in this series (6-5 and 8-4) before dropping a 7-2 decision yesterday. The Brew Crew have followed up their last three loses with a pair of victories but we see that trend ending today. The Brewers are 17.5 games behind St. Louis in the NL Central.
Nationals vs Brewers MLB Game Day Call: We get a seasoned veteran hooking up with a rookie in the battle on the bump today. RHP Max Scherzer (6-5 ERA 2.13) gets the call for Washington while RHP Taylor Jungmann (1-0 ERA 1.29) makes his second career start for Milwaukee. During regular season action, dating back to September 2013, Scherzer is 4-0 after his team lost his previous two starts - the Maximizer is 0-2 in June.
