LA Kings: Leaders of the lackluster Pacific Division
While we still haven’t hit the quarter pole of the 2015-16 NHL season, some fairly heavy preseason chalk teams have not lived up to their lofty rankings in the Western Conference. That is part of the reason why the Kings 10-6-0 record is good for the top spot in the Pacific Division. That mark would be good for fifth in the Central Division. Los Angeles has sandwiched loses on top of wins as they are 3-3-0 to open November. Prior to that, the Kings went on a seven-game winning streak to halt a three-loss season opening slide. The Kings have crowned the Oilers in six straight games at the Staples Center.
Edmonton Oilers: Return visit to SoCal ends a four game road trip
Edmonton hits the ice looking to earn a 2-2 split as they close out a weird four-game road trip tonight – it would be a mini victory. The Oilers dropped a 4-2 decision in Chicago last Sunday, then won 4-3 in overtime in Anaheim on Wednesday, before losing 4-1 in Arizona on Thursday night. Though they did have a day off, flying into California, then up to Arizona and then back down to Socal is a strange path to take. Edmonton has lost 12 of the last 15 meetings in this series. We like the Kings Jonathan Quick (7-6-0 GAA 2.30) over the Oilers Cam Talbot (3-7-0 GAA 3.00) in the goaltending duel here.
