How To Bet On Liverpool

Liverpool are one of the two most successful sides in English football history. But while Manchester United have been the side of the Premier League era, Liverpool’s success came in the past, with Shankly, Fagan and Dalglish all responsible for winning titles. The Merseyiders have yet to win the Premier League. Can they finally end a quarter-century wait for English football’s biggest domestic prize under new manager Jurgen Klopp? Liverpool are more than just a football club; they are a way of life for millions of fans around the world. [+]

Anfield, Liverpool’s home ground, does not have the capacity the Etihad, Emirates Stadium or Old Trafford does. But what it lacks in seating capacity, it more than makes up for in sheer noise. The legendary atmosphere at the Kop end in Anfield is what has drawn so many players and managers to the storied club.

Having been involved in some classic Premier League battles for the title, it is perhaps misfortune rather than ineptitude that has prevented Liverpool from winning the league since its 1992/93 rebranding.

After all, they were incredibly successful in the 1970’s and 1980’s with players such as John Barnes, Peter Beardsley, Ian Rush showcasing what Liverpool is all about. Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Stan Collymore, among countless other greats have laced up the boots for Liverpool.

Liverpool won the 2005 Champions League, maybe their greatest acheivement of all time. But it is the Premier League trophy that their fervent fans covet most of all.

How To Win Liverpool Bets

While Liverpool do not have the winning pedigree of Manchester, Arsenal or Chelsea (or Leicester and Blackburn in that regard), they now have the kind of manager with the capability of making it happen. Liverpool started the 2016-17 like gangbusters but faltered during the Christmas period to fall away from challenging for the title. Most of their downfall was due to an injury to Philippe Countinho and Sadio Mane’s absence due to the Africa Cup of Nations.

They are also a bit weak on the defensive side of the ball and lack world class center backs to challenge for the title. Klopp loves to press opposing teams relentlessly, and high up the pitch. It works well most of the time, but  trouble beckons when Liverpoo’s defense are left to cope with one-on-one situaitons.

You can alwasy expect goals from Liverpool. They had the fourth best offense in the league, scoring 78 goals in 39 matches. Usually excellent at home, the Reds uncharacteristically faltered against perceived inferior opponents, severely damaging their title aspirations.

We think Liverpool could be the surprise package of the Premier League in 2016/17.

Look for the Reds to continually improve under Klopp. But some of his signings leave a lot to be desired and they’re not in the position to challenge for the title in the near future. They are, however, good bets to win the FA Cup so back them in that futures market and reap the rewards.
