Who is Going to Win The Stanley Cup?

The Colorado Avalanche are looking to pull off the rare achievement of winning their third Stanley Cup title. Coming off their championship win in 2022, the Avs are sitting pretty as +800 favorites according to most sportsbooks, like Bovada.lv, MyBookie, and BetOnline.ag, to capture Lord Stanley once again.

The core group led by Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Cale Makar is still in its prime and hungry for more. While the Western Conference will provide stiff competition as always, the Avs have both the talent and experience to make another deep playoff run.

Well, there is a lot to like about the Avalanche heading into 2023-2024. They will still have Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Cale Makar making life miserable for NHL goalies. And even with the departure of captain Gabriel Landeskog due to knee surgery, the core group that has led Colorado to back-to-back Stanley Cups is still largely intact. On defense, the Avs sport impressive mobility with Makar, Devon Toews, and Bowen Byram. In goal, Alexandar Georgiev has capably filled the void left by Cup stalwart Darcy Kuemper.

A lot will change between now and the start of the playoffs. There’s still free agents to be signed, and players to be traded and drafted. But right now, it’s hard to see any team with a better chance to win next season than the Avalanche and the Golden Knights.

2023-2024 NHL Stanley Cup Predictions

Colorado Avalanche +800 to win the Stanley Cup

Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar aren't going anywhere. Even with the loss of Gabriel Landeskog to knee surgery, the core group that has led the Avs to back-to-back Stanley Cups is largely intact. With impressive mobility on defense and Alexandar Georgiev capably filling the void in goal, the Avs are poised for another dominant season after battling injuries in 2022-2023. Much like Matt Murray during his Cup runs with Pittsburgh, Georgiev could further cement his reputation with a championship season in Colorado.

Vegas Golden Knights +800 to win the Stanley Cup

After winning it all in the 2023 Cup Finals, Vegas will be out to defend their first-ever title next season. Their impressive forward depth and goaltending make the Golden Knights a safe bet to go on another deep playoff run. After re-signing key players like Ivan Barbashev, Vegas has shown no signs of a title hangover. Expect them to be contenders once again.

Boston Bruins +900 to win the Stanley Cup

While the Bergeron/Krejci era may have ended, the Bruins continue rolling along with a lethal offense and exceptional defense and goaltending. They have a proven history of following dominant regular seasons with Stanley Cup glory. Until someone dethrones them in the East, Boston deserves to be in the mix.

New York Rangers +1000 to win the Stanley Cup

With stars like Igor Shesterkin, Adam Fox and Artemi Panarin, plus coach Peter Laviolette's history of Finals trips in his first seasons, the Rangers are a dangerous Cup threat. Injuries have done little to slow their roll to the top of the Metro division. Count out New York at your own risk.

New Jersey Devils +1100 to win the Stanley Cup

If Jack Hughes returns healthy, the Devils' phenomenal offense can't be ignored. They are still growing defensively, but have the pieces in place with forwards like Jesper Bratt to make noise in the East. A goalie and defensive step forward could make them a shock contender.

Dallas Stars +1100 to win the Stanley Cup

Led by blossoming goalie Jake Oettinger, the Stars have been knocking on the door and look ripe for a Finals breakthrough after two Conference Finals appearances recently. Their defensive style and experienced core could finally deliver Dallas its first Cup since the 90s.

Edmonton Oilers +1600 to win the Stanley Cup

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on a mission for Edmonton's first Cup since 1990. Improved depth makes this one of McDavid's best shots at glory. If the Oilers can hold up defensively and in goal, their star power could power them to new heights.

Most of the time, last year’s champion is among the favorites to repeat again the next season. But that’s not true when it comes to the National Hockey League’s most valuable player betting lines.

Taylor Hall became the first New Jersey Devil ever to win the Hart Trophy last season. The first overall pick in the 2008 draft earned 72 out of 164 first-place votes. The Alberta native, who finished sixth in the league in scoring with 93 points, isn't even in the Top 5 for this year's MVP.

Stanley Cup Playoffs Predictions: Wild West Is Up For Grabs
Betting Picks
In the Stanley Cup playoffs, it isn't so much about how the West was won as it is about who will win the West. You can make a legitimate case for all four of the remaining teams being the last one left standing. The Nashville Predators were last spring's finalist, while the San Jose Sharks were there a year earlier. And you can't discount the Winnipeg Jets or Vegas Golden Knights.
